Mea Culpa. Another week of not mowing the dust and not doing more things. I think the prospect of lunch at the Irish Club on Friday clouded my judgement. Now I have the prospect of dealing with many wet things. Maybe the cyclone you are having when you are not having a cyclone will end soon. Am back at work on Tuesday but there will be much catching up on Stats, etc. So, I guess the week after next will be the week for things. Watch this space!!

Thing 9

I thought this looked "The worlds fastest indian". I also found a great album by a couple when went to 3 Moto GP races in Europe in Shutterfly.
There really are a lot of images around in so many places.
I found it a bit daunting in initially as they all appear quite different. Thankfully Sarah was around to help me get into it. Being able to find interesting images so quickly will make any projects or displays a lot easier.
Now that I have some experience with these sites I will feel more confident if and when the need occurs.
I can get some free downloads with Shutterfly. My partner Cheryl has 5 grandkids and we will have two Christmases this year. Lots of photos. I am going to have a go at putting an album together. Wish me luck!

Things 7 & 8 - Take 2
I've finally got my head around this. I picked up a few group feeds (News, Sport and Rugby Union) quite easily. These have their own folders so that was easy. I was able to use my Ipad to get the Library Blog.
I now feel comfortable using Reader and Flipboard and I will have a look a Zite.
It is good to get the latest of everything without much effort.
I can see the use for such quick and current feeds in many fields. Students and Staff would benefit from sites with update on Technology and Innovation and different ways of doing things.
Personally I enjoy keeping up with the world. However, I must admit to being more of a traditionalist when it comes to News and Sport. I like the comfort of having a newspaper delivered every day (except Christmas and Good Friday) and vegging out in front of the TV.
I probably will use the Moto GP feed a bit. Still undecided who to barrack for. Valentino Rossi is back at Honda so who knows!

Things 7 & 8
Had a party week this week so I am running behind. I've done my feeds but haven't got much further. I also got a new PC at work so I have been sorting it out.
I borrowed an Ipad to use from home when I am on holiday in January so I can keep doing the 23 things. It is interesting seeing how Flipboard and Feedly work with Google Reader. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't get the Library Biz feed to work in them. I can still use Outlook I guess.
I will do some reading and playing over the weekend and post again on Monday.

Google drive
Wow! This really is cool as!
Anne, Gary and I used a spreadsheet to do our desk roster for the next two weeks. It was great to all be able to use it at the same time and make adjustments and comments. This is yet another tools for collaborative work. I can see many possibilities for everyone. Students often work in groups and this means they don't have to be together to complete their work.
I use google search and google scholar often to check citations for Interlibray Loans. Sometimes a small error in a title can cause problems. Using google I can usual figure out what they really want.
I also used google maps to find an old friends house. I hadn't seem him for more than 35 years!
Google seems to have a lot going for it. I think the more I use it the more useful it will become.

Thing 5 - Wikis
I wish these had been around when I was writing proceedures in the bank in the 90's. What a great idea to be able to work in more collabortative environment. Another benefit would be trying to get others to understand a difficult concept. We all see things differently from many perspectives. Explaining Cutter numbers is a prime example. I think when you know something very well it is hard to fully explain it to someone else and constant feedback and adjustments would make it easier.
The Wikis I looked at were well organised and easy to follow. They also contained a large amount of information. I can see the need to have a fluid basis for establishing patterns of work and procedures.
I see a need for sharing information along these lines. This combined with the ease of use makes a case that Wikis are still having their day.

Blogs
Setting up the blog was relatively simple but some patience was required. It was slow at times but that could be due to the constant thunderstorms we are having at present.
I have looked at blogs on very rare occasions but I look forward to keeping up with ours.
