I wish these had been around when I was writing proceedures in the bank in the 90's. What a great idea to be able to work in more collabortative environment. Another benefit would be trying to get others to understand a difficult concept. We all see things differently from many perspectives. Explaining Cutter numbers is a prime example. I think when you know something very well it is hard to fully explain it to someone else and constant feedback and adjustments would make it easier.
The Wikis I looked at were well organised and easy to follow. They also contained a large amount of information. I can see the need to have a fluid basis for establishing patterns of work and procedures.
I see a need for sharing information along these lines. This combined with the ease of use makes a case that Wikis are still having their day.
A wiki for Cutter numbers!!! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteSarah :)
Do you use cutter numbers?? lol
ReplyDeleteBut yes- wikis can be good for procedures and explanations! You could include other people's ideas about explaining cutter numbers?
[and I do like the way Blogger gives you different views for your blog - magazine, mosaoc etc...]
